CeraVe Itch Relief Lotion
My friend suffers from constant itchy skin because shes allergic to the entire world, so I got her to test this new lotion made for extremely reactive skin. She immediately messaged me asking for more. This light, fragrance-free lotion was developed with dermatologists and is made with the anti-itch ingredient Pramoxine Hydrochloride, three nourishing ceramides and hyaluronic acid to help reinforce your skin barrier. It also comes in a richer cream formula and is safe for use on kids as young as two, too.$18, well.ca.(Related:Can Allergies Make You Tired? 7 Things Allergists Need You to Know)
Laura Mercier RoseGlow Caviar Stick
I love cream eyeshadows because I suck at putting on eyeshadow, but I love Laura Mercier’s creamy, shimmery Caviar Sticks even more because they make it almost impossible to screw up. For #GlowSummer (I’m making that happen, don’t @ me!) Laura Mercier has come out with the RoseGlow collection, six new shades of illuminating, longwear colour in pink and purple-y shades that can be worn alone or layered on top of other eyeshadows. Not cheap, but a little goes a long way.$38, lauramercier.ca.(Related:8 Drugstore Beauty Products That’ll Make You Want to Play With Makeup Again)

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in Peach Iced Tea
I never bought the hype around Laneiges iconic lip sleeping mask, which, at $26 seemed a little silly even if it is called a lip mask (I was like Ya, guys, its called LIP BALM and its $5, try it sometime!) Well, I finally decided to try it when Laneige launched this new summer flavour and I woke up the next morning to noticeably softerdare I say, pillowy? lips, and I dont even suffer from extra dryness or cracking. Vitamin C, antioxidants, hyaluronic acid and minerals form a thick protective layer over your lips to lock in moisture and activate ingredients while you snooze. What can I say?Lip mask for the win!$26, sephora.com.(Related:May’s Buzziest New Beauty Products You’ll Want to Try)
M.A.C Cosmetics Magic Extension 5mm Fibre Mascara
If youve been reading this column, you know Im a total sucker for mascara, and I’m always on the hunt for new formulas that will give me the creepy doll lashes of my dreams. This new mascara is a contender, with a formula that, instead of focusing on extreme volume or thickening, goes for the long, separated and feather-y look you usually only get with falsies.$33, sephora.com.(Related:What Is An Eyelash Serum And Do I Need One?)
Dermalogica Smart Response Serum
This serum is spying on you. The latest outing from Dermalogica includes technology that responds to the micro-changes in your skin before theyre even visible. Things this serum can reportedly detect include collagen weakness, inflammation, dehydration and when theres too much of an enzyme involved in creating dark spots. Once your incoming skin issue is identified, one of the four active ingredients steps up to lead the beauty battle. An easy fix for people who cant be bothered with a slew of different products.$189, dermalogica.ca.(Related:How to Patch Test Skin Products to See If Youre Allergic)
L’Occitane Verbena Citrus Collection
Okay, okay,so you didnt get to go on your annual family vacay to Provence, France, this year (dsol!) but at least you can inhale the lemony freshness of verbena, one of the famous aromatic herbs that grow there, with this cute new limited-edition collection. Special additions include a scrub, hair and body fragrance mist, body cream, hand and shower gels and a refreshing mousse for legs, which is basically a whipped moisturizer with a menthol chaser for that extra zippy feeling. From $22, loccitane.com.(Related: 7 Beauty Products That Will Tend to All Your Foot Woes This Summer)
Joico Humidity Blocker Plus
I have pretty crap hairfine, thinning, dyed-within-an-inch-of-its-lifeat the best of times, but the worst of times definitely occurs on those super humid days where my tentative waves just morph into an angry frizz halo. This light-hold spray is my latest attempt to shield and tame the summer beast.$25, chatters.ca.(Related:Are You Washing Your Hair Properly?)
Selfless by Hyram
Judging by all the questions I get from my friends (all of whom have presumably owned faces for a longish time) people are still overwhelmed when it comes to a skincare regime. This new gentle collection from skinfluencer Hyram Yarbro and The Inkey List is all about clean, minimal ingredients and ecological sourcing practices. The ingredients and intended use for each are listed right in the product names, which makes for amusingly long names but at least youre not going to be confused! Please meet the Retinol & Rainbow Algae Repair Serum, Niacinamide & Marajuca Daily Support Moisturizer, Salicylic Acid & Sea Kelp Pore Clearing & Oil Control Serum, Centella & Green Tea Hydrating Gel Cleanser and last, but by no means any shorter, Mandelic Acid & Rice Bran Gentle Exfoliating Serum. From $26, sephora.com.(Related:Everything You Need to Know About Acids for Skin Care)
Shiseido Clear Stick UV Protector
Okay, this is a bit of a cheat because its technically an end-of-May launch, but I have to give a shoutout to this humble new sunscreen stick. Is it because its made with a trippy technology that reacts to heat, water and sweat to strengthen the UV protection? Is it because its 50+SPF and made up of 50 percent skincare ingredients and the clear formula can be used invisibly on all skin tones? No, its because my kid and my husband will actually use it, which is a miracle. The daily facial sunscreen battle Ive been having with my fair-skinned son has finally ended with this. He doesnt flinch, he doesnt bury his face in the couch, he doesnt wipe it all off immediately because he hates the smell or the texturehe says it actually feels good when I put it on. And then theres my husband, who has only ever (begrudgingly) used sunscreen if hes at the beach. But this he even takes this with him when he goes for bike rides. Like, in his bag?! Voluntarily? A miracle, Im telling you.$37 , shoppersdrugmart.ca.Next, here is what you need to know about sunscreen.
